“Monoprints of Nature and Music”
My early monotypes are about a visual poetry of nature. They tell a story in 2D composition that emphasizes the color and textural richness of printing ink and its spontaneous expression. These qualities have drawn me to this kind of printmaking. It is a singular approach to working on paper that demands rapid working and responds with unusual freedom. My ideas come from dreams, my garden and playful explorations of color and design .
Beginning in 2016, my new monotypes concern music, especially jazz. Some elements of my earlier work remain. Each work becomes more personal and a unique object of the playful process of designing, discovering, and manual execution.
